Base is a secure and cost-effective Ethereum Layer 2 solution designed to attract a wider audience to web3.0. It leverages Ethereum’s robust security and scalability features, providing a convenient and reliable means to onboard users and protect their assets. By granting early access to Ethereum functionalities at a reduced expense, Base empowers developers with simple APIs for conducting gasless transactions. As an open-source project developed in collaboration with Optimism and built on the OP Stack, Base is accessible to all. Furthermore, Coinbase’s involvement in scaling Base ensures seamless integration, fiat onramps, and access to a vast user base with billions of assets.

Base offers a secure bridging mechanism for whitelisted ERC-20 tokens from the Goerli testnet to the Base Goerli Testnet. It’s important to note that this project is currently undergoing testing and does not yet support Ethereum mainnet tokens. The Goerli Testnet, widely utilized by developers and users alike, emulates the main Ethereum network, allowing thorough testing of smart contracts and NFTs before their deployment on the mainnet.

To get started with Base, follow these steps:

  1. If you haven’t already, install the Coinbase Wallet extension on your web browser.
  2. Launch the Coinbase Wallet extension and click on the network selection button located at the top of the wallet interface.
  3. Choose “Base Goerli Testnet” from the network selection menu.
  4. Once you have selected the Base Goerli Testnet, you can fund your Coinbase wallet with Base Goerli Testnet ETH to begin interacting with the Base Goerli Testnet.
  5. Visit the official Base quest website and connect your Coinbase Wallet (Base Goerli Testnet). Click the “Start Quest” button.
  6. Follow the provided instructions to claim testnet ETH tokens from the Base faucet. To prevent bot abuse and ensure privacy, a minimum transfer of 0.0001 ETH to the Base address is required. After completing this step, wait for the arrival of 0.1 ETH in Base Goerli Testnet tokens. These tokens will enable you to cover transaction costs on the Base Goerli Testnet.
  7. Once you have received your Base Goerli Testnet tokens, click “Continue” and enter the deployed Base testnet contract address. Simply copy and paste the contract address to proceed.
  8. If you prefer a more user-friendly approach to deploying BASE testnet contracts, especially if you’re new to coding, you can utilize Thirdweb for simplified and visual deployment.
  9. Log in to Thirdweb and connect your Coinbase wallet.
  10. On the homepage, click “View contracts,” then proceed to “Deploy contract” on the following page.
  11. Select the NFT contract named “Edition Drop” to release ERC1155 tokens.
  12. Inside the “Edition Drop” contract, click the “Deploy Now” button. While the contract metadata name is mandatory, you can leave the recipient address as the default value and adjust the percentage as desired. Note: To add BASE Goerli testnet, ensure you manually click “Configure Networks” first and search for BASE Goerli before selecting it.
  13. Click “Deploy Now” to submit the deployment. Confirm the deployment by following the two-step process in the wallet plugin. Please disregard any warning about the unavailability of transaction preview. Once the deployment is successful, you will be redirected to the “Your contracts” page.
  14. That’s it! You can now copy the contract address and paste it into the official Base quest website to claim your Base NFT.
